A Cooks Kitchen

Victorian House

The Cook’s Kitchen:
This superbly crafted cook’s kitchen is at the rear of an expansive Bath period property, sitting within the original kitchen space. The client wished to create a beautifully simple kitchen, in keeping with the history of the house yet encompassing modern facilities to make the space practical and functional for busy family life.
The solid oak Victorian inspired cook’s table boasts a traditional sycamore top which has the advantage of being both durable and practical whilst also beautiful. This large work space sits comfortably within the room, allowing an adequate area to prepare food, whilst chatting to friends and family sitting at the bar stools at one end of the table. We created fully extending drawers which are specifically designed with extra depth to house the double tiered drawer inserts thus allowing storage for cutlery, spice jars and utensils.
The glazed doors leading to the pantry are designed and built by T&G, using our traditional door mouldings, beadings and glazing. These details allow a seamless transition from one room to another, and create a sense of uniformity between the two rooms.
To increase storage, we were requested to design a free standing open shelving unit. Nestled within the alcove, the solid oak shelves have matching solid oak slats, and provide the perfect space to store those items that are used on a regular basis.
This oak theme is picked up in the custom-made plate rack, which in itself is a gentle nod to the historical elements of this kitchen.
The painted cabinets of the kitchen run uses T&G’s traditional draw front details and door panel mouldings. These have then been painted with a gorgeous custom made paint specifically created for the project. The whole scheme is complimented by stunning bespoke hardware, handmade in the UK.
The elegance of this kitchen is in the detail and quality of the materials and workmanship behind each element.
